Sandoval’s walk-off home run lifts Giants over Cubs

San Francisco – They did it again in walk-off fashion.  It was another night of great baseball and it doesn’t get any better than this.  Pablo Sandoval went yard in the thirteenth inning for the 5-4 win over the Cubs.

San Francisco’s unbelievable run has no end in sight.  Sixteen wins this month and seven have been walk-off victories. It’s a team effort from all and no one has disappointed.   Alex Dickerson homered in the fourth while Kevin Pillar knocked in two runs.

“It’s someone different everyday it seems like,” said Bruce Bochy.  “He [Pablo] came through for us when we needed it.”

The Giants hadn’t scored since the fourth frame.  Chicago got back in the game in the seventh when Victor Caratini singled on a ground ball and drove in Jason Heyward.  Heyward to make a one run game.  Heyward tied the game 4-4 when he hit a RBI single in the eighth.

The bullpen did their job in keeping the Cubs off the board after the eighth.  Another remarkable performance in shutting down this offense.  Chicago got off to an early start working Bumgarner early.

Javier Baez led off the first with a double and Kris Bryant drove him in with a single up the middle.  By the second San Francisco tied it 1-1 with a sacrifice fly from Mike Yastrzemski.

Bumgarner pitched seven solid innings but got no-decision.  The talks of trading the southpaw keeps rising while the humbled pitcher has made it clear he wants to stay.  Bumgarner received a standing ovation, many think this will be his last start with the trade deadline closing in.

“It’s probably the best stretch I’ve been apart of,” said Bumgarner.  “I didn’t go back and look, but just going off my memory, it’s got to be up there.

When you’re pitching you’ve got to be locked into the moment, but like I’ve said a million times, this is a special place to me and it always will be.”
