Last Friday, Congresswoman Barbara Lee was named by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi as one of six House Democratic members on the conference committee to negotiate homeland security funding.

The committee of 17, which also includes four Republican House members, four Republican senators, and three Democratic senators, will work to negotiate homeland security funding before the stopgap funding bill signed by President Trump expires on Feb. 15.

The committee includes two other Democratic House members from California, Representatives Lucille Roybal-Allard and Pete Aguilar. “I look forward to working with my colleagues in both the House and the Senate to pass legislation to fund the government and prevent another harmful, pointless shutdown,” said Congresswoman Barbara Lee.

“I am committed to working across the aisle to keep the government open while we develop border security solutions that are effective, evidence-based, and respect human rights.”
