HOLLY HILL – Boys & Girls Club staff members from all eight Boys & Girls Clubs of Volusia/Flagler Counties Clubs as well as the management team from the administrative office recently participated in a full week of training prior to the commencement of the beginning of the 2019-2020 school year.

In addition to professional development and club training throughout the year, the mandatory weeklong training for all staff began with a welcome from Chief Professional Officer Joe Sullivan.

Other training included Mental Health First Aid, Principles of Management, Building a BGC Work Team, Creating an Emotionally Safe Club, Five Key Elements for Positive Youth Development, Grant Expectations, QPR Suicide Prevention, Marketing and Development, and information about childcare food programs.

Focus on safety

Subject matter experts from Chrysalis Health, SMA Healthcare, QPR Institute (suicide training) and Boys & Girls Clubs of America spoke and provided vital information in order for our clubs to be safe, knowledgeable and prepared to assist in saving lives for each and every child that participates in the programs.

“The work we do with kids and families who need us the most (every day after school and all day during the summer) makes what we do as youth development professionals crucial for the future of our local community and nation,’’ Sullivan said.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Volusia/Flagler Counties provides services to more than 1,400 members annually at eight club locations (Daytona Beach, Palm Coast, DeLand, Lake Helen, Holly Hill, Deltona, New Smyrna Beach and Edgewater.
