The charitable foundation of Oakland’s historic Sequoyah Country Club (www.sequoyahcc.com) is continuing its tradition of philanthropy by giving to three worthy East Bay causes.

The Sequoyah Country Club Foundation recently gave $3,000 each to the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Boys & Girls Clubs of Oakland and Saint Vincent’s Day Home.

 

“We could not do the critical work for these babies and families of the East Bay and around the country without the generous support of organizations such as the Sequoyah Foundation,” said Teresa Proctor, manager of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland.

The NICU at UCSF Benioff Oakland provides highly specialized care for newborns throughout the very first moments of their lives.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Oakland, chartered in 1941, each year serves more than 2,500 girls and boys ages 6 to 17.

Saint Vincent’s Day Home is a nonprofit child development center in the heart of West Oakland and has served more than 35,000 children of low income families since 1911.

“Sequoyah is honored to help these organizations as part of our commitment to support the entire East Bay community,” said Steve Callaway, who is the Vice President of Sequoyah’s Board of Directors. Callaway presented the check to the Boys & Girls Clubs.

Sequoyah launched the Foundation in 2013 to have the ability to accept and channel charitable donations to support a wide range of community causes without setting up a third party to operate charitable events. .

Since its founding, the foundation has provided more than $40,000 to various charities.
