The family of Michael Brown asks that we “channel your frustration to the grand jury decision in ways that will make a positive change.”
Our young men are also exploited by the system of college sports, highlighted in the University of Pennsylvania study on Black Male Student-Athletes and Racial Inequities in NCAA Division I College Sports. This lingering and persistent disparity also demands a strong response.
Our response is BOSS (Business of Success beyond Sports) and we are on our way to dramatically increasing the number of low and middle-income Black male students who enter and legitimately graduate college. Developing this untapped pool of college-admitted Black talent from low- and middle-income families is one positive change that the Brown and Trayvon Martin tragedies can ignite, and is also key to America remaining globally competitive and upwardly mobile.
