OCCUR Presents Free Workshop: “Data Collection for Designing Winning Grants”
“All grant seekers want big money and believe their programs deserve to win those large monetary awards,” says Carmen Bogan, Program Director of A Model Built on Faith technical assistance program, but substantial, multi-year grants are based on programs built on accurate data, not guesswork.”
OCCUR and the San Francisco Foundation are hosting a free training, “Data Collection for Designing Knockout Programs and Winning Grants,” an intensive, interactive workshop that will prepare participants to use powerful government databases to build their best case for large grants.
Instructors Jerry Wong, data dissemination specialist with the US Census Bureau, and Carmen Bogan, CEO of the Bogan Group, will teach participants how to mine census and other sometimes elusive data to uncover true community needs and emerge with facts that make a case for receiving winning grants.
Course instructors highly recommended that each participant or organization bring a laptop to this interactive session.
The workshop will be offered on Thursday, July 28 at the First Unitarian Church, 685 14th St., Oakland. Check-in is at 8:30 a.m., and the workshop begins at 9 a.m.
RSVP at www.amodelbuiltonfaith.org. For more information, contact OCCUR at occur@sbcglobal.net or (510) 839-2440.
