Bay Area Icon Miss Faye Carol, the Queen Songstress is hosting a four-week cross-cultural, cross-genre musical series at Geoffrey’s Inner Circle Club in downtown Oakland.
Accompanied by the up and coming jazz pianist Joe Warner, Faye will be sharing the stage with amazing & unique collaborations with celebrated local and international artists, while enjoying Geoffrey’s full bar and $12 soul food plates.
- On Sunday, March 15, 6 p.m. Faye is hosting a “Funky Soul Latin Dance Party” featuring Pete Escovedo, backed by a Bay Area supergroup featuring John Santos, Carolyn Brandy, and Jesus DiazDance the night away with Miss Faye and her all-star octet featuring legendary Bay Area percussionist Pete Escovedo. This iconic artist has a career of over 60 years breaking down barriers between smooth jazz, salsa, Latin jazz, and contemporary music. - On Sunday, March 22, 6 p.m. “R&B, Hip-Hop, Ya Don’t Stop” featuring Oakland icon Mistah F.A.B., there will be a night of plenty of blues, soul, funk, and R&B with this unique intergenerational collaboration. Rapper Mistah F.A.B. is an Oakland icon known as the Freestyle King. He ignited the Bay Area’s Hyphy Movement in the early 2000s, is known for his breakout single “Ghost Ride It” and has collaborated with Snoop Dogg, E-40, Too $hort, and Chris Brown. Today he is known additionally as an entrepreneur, producer, community organizer, and activist. Don’t miss this rare collaboration between this O.G. - On Sunday, March 29, 6 p.m. “Legends of the Blues” featuring Grammy-winner Bobby Rush” — An intimate, acoustic, stripped-down night of blues, blues, and more blues. Bobby Rush has been performing the blues for nearly seven decades, since the days of juke joints and the chitlin circuit, performing with Jimmy Reed, Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Little Walter, & Pinetop Perkins. Opening the show is Kito Kamili, one of the Bay Area’s most prolific artists.
Known widely as a pianist, singer, rapper, producer and educator, she has worked with artists such as David Murray, Amiri Baraka, Archie Shepp, Albert King, Pharaoh Sanders, and her mom Faye Carol.
