Black Female Architects to Hold 5th Annual Event in D.C.
WASHINGTON INFORMER — Black Women in Architecture, an all-female architectural group which has morphed into a vital resource for Black female designers, will gather next month for its annual networking event at the historic Octagon House in downtown D.C.

Black Women in Architecture, an all-female architectural group which has morphed into a vital resource for Black female designers, will gather next month for its annual networking event at the historic Octagon House in downtown D.C.
Organized by a team of volunteers, the event presents an opportunity for more than 40 Black women to not only gather and network with each other, but to also build future partnerships.
The Sept. 21 event aims to connect women who could easily be working in environments where they rarely see another Black woman. Black women make up only 0.4 percent of more than 110,000 licensed architects in the United States, according to BWA.
The event is also a fundraiser for the Desiree Cooper ARE Scholarship Fund, which to date has awarded five scholarships to exam candidates.
