The Bay Area Rescue Mission is infusing fun into returning to school with its annual “Back to School Block Party” Saturday, Aug. 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. between First and Third streets on Macdonald Avenue in Richmond.

Food, music, games, and a diverse range of life-enhancing activities are planned for the Block Party by the organization, which provides food, shelter, clothing, and programs to help transform the lives of people in need.

Free backpacks will be on hand, along with school supplies, haircuts, clothes, and groceries to help the kiddos get all set for the school year. Add to that free food—including hamburgers and hot dogs—a DJ, music, live entertainment, and fun games for all.

BARM said that, along with all its offerings, the Block Party will be a great opportunity “to meet neighbors, make new friends and create lasting memories.”
