2026 Subaru Trailseeker Touring Review — Real Adventure EV or Just Another Crossover?
Most drivers curious about going electric have the same worry:
Will an EV still take me everywhere I want to go, or will it just be another soft crossover with a plug?
That’s exactly the question the 2026 Subaru Trailseeker Touring tries to answer, and after spending time with it, I can say Subaru hasn’t forgotten what made the brand so loyal in the first place.
Design and Presence
At first glance, the Trailseeker looks more rugged than revolutionary. Finished in Sapphire Blue Pearl, it carries purposeful Subaru proportions—upright stance, short overhangs, and 8.5 inches of ground clearance. The signature hexagonal grille is filled in for aerodynamics, flanked by slim LED headlights with automatic high beams.
Lower‐body cladding, ladder‑type roof rails, and 18‑inch aero‑alloy wheels give it a planted, ready‑for‑anything appearance. Even the optional gloss‑black hood accent and two‑tone paint hint at the outdoors mixed with modern sophistication. Subaru calls it “adventure‑focused design,” and they’re right—it looks capable from every angle.
Inside, the theme carries through with utility meeting refinement. The cabin feels open, solid, and deliberate. Soft‑touch materials cover high‑contact areas, while switches and dials fall right where they should. The 14‑inch Subaru Multimedia touchscreen dominates the dash, running wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto flawlessly. Below it, physical controls manage climate settings, avoiding the tap‑happy learning curve of some EV interfaces.
Performance and Range
Here’s where the Trailseeker makes its strongest argument.
Power comes from dual synchronous electric motors, one at each axle, for a combined output of 375 horsepower through Subaru’s familiar Symmetrical All‑Wheel Drive layout. Throttle response is instant, delivering that smooth EV surge with the traction confidence Subaru owners expect. Run to 60 mph takes just about 4.4 seconds, putting this five‑passenger SUV squarely in performance‑crossover territory. A 74.7‑kWh high‑capacity battery provides an EPA‑estimated 274 miles of range, and charging up to 150 kW DC means a 0-80% recharge in roughly 40 minutes. Subaru wisely equips it with a NACS‑compatible port, opening access to Tesla Superchargers as that network expands in 2025 and beyond.
Drivers can choose between Eco, Normal, and Power modes, or tap into X‑MODE® dual settings for Snow/Dirt or Deep Snow/Mud. Coupled with Grip Control and Subaru’s predictable steering feel, the Trailseeker feels like a proper Subaru that just happens to run on electricity. Towing capacity lands at 3,500 pounds, enough for a small trailer or ATV.
Comfort and Usability
The Touring trim leans toward comfort without blurring function. Heated and ventilated front seats, optional leather upholstery, and even radiant leg heaters add a name‑brand luxury feel to Subaru’s utility ethos. A panoramic glass roof with motorized shade brightens the cabin, and rear seats fold flat to open 74 cubic feet of cargo space. Noise levels are low thanks to sound‑insulating glass, and ride quality balances firm and fluid better than expected for a vehicle weighing 4,510 pounds.
Small ergonomic touches —like the 10‑way power driver seat with two‑position memory, auto‑folding heated mirrors, and dual 15‑watt wireless phone chargers—make daily driving effortless.
Ownership and Value
Pricing for the Trailseeker Touring starts at $48,005, positioning it below many luxury EV crossovers but above mainstream compact models. Considering the equipment list, dual‑motor performance, and Subaru build quality, it’s a reasonable deal.
Verdict
The 2026 Trailseeker Touring is the EV Subaru fans were hoping for and skeptics didn’t expect. It proves you can move to electric without abandoning snowy driveways, gravel trails, and weekend gear runs. More importantly, it’s nice to drive—refined yet recognizably Subaru.
If you’re shopping electric SUVs and care about traction, comfort, and authentic utility over bragging rights, the Trailseeker earns your attention. Before signing any paperwork, check real offers at CouponsOffersandDeals.com so you buy smart and don’t get taken.
Mazda may have done luxury the Subaru way; now Subaru’s done electric the Subaru way — and that’s good news for drivers who value adventure over advertising.
