Warriors Get Historic 73rd Win In Victory Over Grizzlies
Oakland, CA – It was an amazing year and no one fathomed an ending like this. The Golden State Warriors shocked the world winning the NBA Championship last year. Dethroning the “King” LeBron James and his Cleveland Cavaliers. Tonight, they did what no other team has done in the history of the NBA. The Warriors recorded seventy-three games in a single season to surpass the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls 72 winning season.
“I want to congratulate the Warriors on their amazing season,” said Michael Jordan. “The game of basketball is always evolving and records are made to be broken. The Warriors have been a lot of fun to watch and I look forward to seeing what they do in the playoffs.”
Stephen Curry led his team to a 125-104 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies in the final home game. Twenty years ago the Bulls made history behind the greatest player in the NBA, Jordan. A young team led by the greatest 3-point shooter the NBA has ever seen, broke that historic record when they demolished the Grizzlies. Curry finished with 46 points and broke his own record of three’s in a single season.
“At a certain point, about eight minutes in the first quarter, I was able to toe the line a couple times, knock it down and things started to flow,” Curry said. “I was searching for it at that point because I made a couple. Kind of let it come to me and then have some fun with it.”
Last year Curry had 286 three’s for the season. Tonight he reached 402 after making 10 of 19 3-pointers. He was the first player to make 300 3-pointer’s is a season. Curry stands alone in setting and breaking his own 3-point records. No other NBA player has achieved such a fete. And it doesn’t look like the point guard is slowing down anytime soon. The reigning MVP is a lock to win this year’s MVP.
“Records are meant to be broken,” said Milwaukee Bucks head coach Jason Kidd. “They’re a good team and they’re right there with the 1995-96 Bulls.”
It was an arduous journey toward the end of the season. Many doubted if the Warriors could reach 70 wins. But this team was determined and resilient. They hit cruise control on they last four games. Golden State defeated both the San Antonio Spurs and Grizzlies twice. The loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves questioned their energy or lack thereof.
There’s one goal and that’s the NBA Championship. The Warriors finished their season with 54 straight wins at home, the best start in a NBA season going 24-0 and finally, a remarkable record of 73-9 surpassing Jordan’s 72-10 Bulls. Golden State will have to win it all just like the Bulls did that year. They open up the playoffs this Saturday at home against the Houston Rockets and will have home-court advantage throughout the playoffs.
“I just told our guys I’d never in a million years would have guessed that record would ever be broken,” head coach Steve Kerr said. “But I will say the same thing now that I said 20 years ago, I don’t think this one will ever be broken. Somebody’s got to go 74-8. I don’t see it, and I hope our fans aren’t expecting that next year.”
“It means that I’m a part of the best team ever, and not many people can say that,” said Draymond Green. “Fifteen guys can say that.”

Special to The Post
At Tuesday night’s Council meeting, the Vallejo City Council appointed Beverli Marshall as the interim city manager. Her tenure in the City Manager’s Office began today, Wednesday, April 10.
Mayor Robert McConnell praised Marshall’s extensive background, noting her “wide breadth of experience in many areas that will assist the City and its citizens in understanding the complexity of the many issues that must be solved” in Vallejo.
Current City Manager Michael Malone, whose official departure is slated for April 18, expressed his well wishes. “I wish the City of Vallejo and Interim City Manager Marshall all the best in moving forward on the progress we’ve made to improve service to residents.” Malone expressed his hope that the staff and Council will work closely with ICM Marshall to “ensure success and prosperity for the City.”
According to the Vallejo Sun, Malone stepped into the role of interim city manager in 2021 and became permanent in 2022. Previously, Malone served as the city’s water director and decided to retire from city service e at the end of his contract which is April 18.
“I hope the excellent work of City staff will continue for years to come in Vallejo,” he said. “However, recent developments have led me to this decision to announce my retirement.”
When Malone was appointed, Vallejo was awash in scandals involving the housing division and the police department. A third of the city’s jobs went unfilled during most of his tenure, making for a rocky road for getting things done, the Vallejo Sun reported.
At last night’s council meeting, McConnell explained the selection process, highlighting the council’s confidence in achieving positive outcomes through a collaborative effort, and said this afternoon, “The Council is confident that by working closely together, positive results will be obtained.”
While the search for a permanent city manager is ongoing, an announcement is expected in the coming months.
On behalf of the City Council, Mayor McConnell extended gratitude to the staff, citizen groups, and recruitment firm.
“The Council wishes to thank the staff, the citizens’ group, and the recruitment firm for their diligent work and careful consideration for the selection of what is possibly the most important decision a Council can make on behalf of the betterment of our City,” McConnell said.
