(NNPA)—After his fall from grace on “Scandal,” Columbus Short might be the latest star to sign up for an appearance on “Empire”!

Lee Daniels is going for big names as he continues to build the talent roster for the return of “Empire.” With Common, Oprah and Patti LaBelle all confirmed for at least an appearance next season, there has been some speculation about who else might pop up.

Columbus’ name has come up as a possible recruit for FOX’s hit series. “Big things are happening,” he told E! News recently about rumors that he’ll be roaring with the Lyons. “I’m going to be bridging my music career with my acting career.”

The actor wouldn’t directly confirm that he’s been tapped for an appearance on “Empire,” but he said, “I’m just saying it wouldn’t be a shock.”

He’s being pretty cagey about this, so the ink must not be dry on his contract just yet.

Despite his unceremonious exit from “Scandal” last season, Columbus still has a lot of love for the show. It’s hard for him to watch the show now, but he’d “1,000 percent” make a return to the show if asked.

Comparing “Scandal” to an old love, he said, “It’s like breaking up with your girlfriend…It’s like, ‘Oh, man, lets just hook up a couple of more times.’”
