Unite4Good and Bright Future International (BFI), organizations that look to provide resources for underprivileged youth, have partnered with Berkeley Youth Alternative and other non-profits to kickoff its ‘Act of Kindness’ initiative this holiday season by providing 1000 free meals to needy families in the Bay Area.

The initiative, launched Thursday at Yoshi’s in Oakland, was founded by BFI and has garnered support from Philanthropist Anthony Melikhov and actor Blair Underwood. They highlighted community businesses, corporations, artists and youth who have participated in acts of kindness.

Among those honored were OCCUR’s David Glover Technology Center, Jason Kidd, Ask.com, Peet’s Coffee, the Oakland Zoo, EO Products, Private Industry Council, Post News Group and Reebok
.

Recording artist Sydney Nycole, a rising songstress and social entrepreneur, headlined the event that featured bay area artists including Spoken Word artist Tasion Kwamilele.

She announced her new urban health and wellness drive with EO products to support Berkeley Youth Alternative and Unite4good’s foster care initiative “Chain of Love.”
Sydney Nycole says she hopes the night inspired like-minded people to help those in need.
