On Tuesday, November 2, the Oakland Latino Chamber of Commerce held its first in-person mixer in nearly two years, and, not surprisingly, the turnout was excellent.

The event was held at Oakland’s newest nightclub, Que Rico, which is owned by OLCC Board Director Valentino Carrillo and located at 381 15^th St. in downtown Oakland. The mixer attracted over 50 attendees from a diverse cross-section of Oakland’s business, political and community spectrum.

Generous complimentary snacks, drinks, and lively music went a long way in creating a fun atmosphere combining business/networking with a party.

Oakland’s ethnic chambers were all well represented, demonstrating the mutual respect and support these local groups have for each other. The Oakland African American Chamber of Commerce CEO Cathy Adams and Petra Brady came out, as did Jessica Chen and others from the Chinatown Chamber.

Other local luminaries in attendance were Oakland City Councilmember Loren Taylor, Comcast Director of External Affairs Ken Maxey and Derreck Johnson, founder of the Home of Chicken & Waffles among others.

The OLCC relaunched in 2017 to serve the small Latino business owner in Oakland and neighboring communities. It is one of California’s 104 Hispanic Chambers and affiliates serving over 800,000 Latino-owned small businesses. It’s clear Latino business leadership community is growing fast, ready to network, do business, make deals and grow to success!
