Luther Johnson Jr., 73
Luther Johnson, Jr., a native of Oakland, Ca., passed away on Sun. Aug. 11, 2019, with his family by his side.
Johnson was born on Dec. 4, 1945. He attended Lockwood, Havenscourt and Castlemont High School and graduated from Laney College.
Johnson served his country during the Vietnam War with the U.S. Navy. He was employed by the Peralta Community College District for more than 25 years and several job classifications with the Teamster’s Union. He was a great lover of the fine arts and played the saxophone and flute.
He is survived by his daughter Jahlilah Johnson; grandsons Jahleel Stephen and Jayceon Jackson; brother Terrence Johnson; sister Gail Johnson Murphy and a loving extended family.
Services will be held Monday Aug. 19, 2019, 11:00 a.m. at Fouche’s Hudson Funeral Home, 3665 Telegraph Ave. in Oakland.
