The Chase Center will be the new home of the Golden State Warriors when it opens in September 2019.
The center is a first-of-its-kind in San Francisco. It will serve as a world-class sports and entertainment destination, home to a championship basketball team, a tremendous culinary scene, engaging retail, and some of the world’s most innovative companies.
The Warriors privately financed the new center with no money from San Francisco’s general fund, no public land and no new taxes.
The sports and entertainment district will generate more than $14 million each year in new tax revenues to the city. This money will go toward vital services and capital improvements to address the community and neighborhood’s needs.
The Chase Center will have 18,064 seats. It will not only host not Warriors basketball, but also major concerts, cultural events, family shows, and a variety of other attractions.
The district will also feature 580,000 square feet of office space.
The venue will host approximately 200 events per year.
“The opening of the Chase Center signals a sea-change for San Francisco,” said Fred Jordan, Chairman, San Francisco African American Chamber of Commerce. “This new center is the catalyst that will inspire new levels of art, culture, entertainment, and sports.”
A new subway line is under construction that will link the arena and the University of California, San Francisco to downtown hotels, convention centers and subway and commuter rail lines that serve the entire Bay Area.
