On Sunday, the St. John Missionary Baptist Church celebrated its Pastor, Dr. Kevin B. Hall’s 25th anniversary with about 1,200 people filling the house at 662 South 52nd St. in Richmond.
It all started at 1:00 p.m. with a great meal and fellowship.
The program celebration continued with musical selections from choirs at St. John and St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church visiting from Sacramento.
Minister Jerald Ford of St. John’s provided the call to worship, followed by the entry of Pastor Hall escorted by his grandchildren.

Sister Pamela Harrison did the introduction of the program and the welcome was provided by Sister Joyce Al-Islam. Deacon Edward Kimble introduced all of the civic leaders.
Among them were councilmembers Nathaniel Bates, Melvin Willis, Demnlus Johnson III and Edwardo Martinez; Planning Commissioner Brandon Evans and Contra Costa County District Attorney Diana Becton.
Words of appreciation came from family representative Sister Kavina Hall Mcleod, the pastor’s daughter, and St. John’s representative Sister Eddie Mure.
They stated how, under Hall’s leadership,St. John Missionary Baptist Church had grown from 600 members 25 years ago to 1,800 members today, and how the church has expanded with the purchase of a new campus in Richmond, a new administration building and other projects with a total cost of more than $5 million.
