Oakland Centenarian Nuna McKee Honored!
Nuna McKee was honored on her 100th birthday at a celebration attended by over 150 guests from across the United States and abroad. The event, held September 13 at the Club on Ruby Hill in Pleasanton, featured music, poetry, and tributes. Proclamations were received from California Secretary of State Shirley Weber, Oakland Mayor Barbara Lee, and the City of Fairfield, recognizing the milestone. On Sept. 13, family and friends gathered for a truly momentous occasion to honor a remarkable woman on her 100th birthday. More than 150 guests traveled from across the United States and as far away as Portugal, Honduras, and Mexico to join the celebration at the Club on Ruby Hill in Pleasanton. The occasion featured poetry, song, beautiful harp music by Destiny Muhammad, jazz from the Sheldon Alexander Trio, and heartfelt tributes from family and friends. California Secretary of State Shirley Weber, Oakland Mayor Barbara Lee, and the City of Fairfield offered proclamations recognizing this extraordinary milestone, adding another special touch to the celebration. The joyful gathering brought together five generations, all giving thanks for her life, love, and God’s amazing grace.
