Oakland’s beloved educator and artist Kev Choice will serve as the online keynote speaker for Black Laney Love Day on August 18.
He is part of a hybrid online/live Black Laney Love Day event as Laney College campus opens for Fall classes. From 1:00-3:00 in the Quad of the college located at 900 Fallon St., new, returning and prospective students will experience a special community welcome.
The festivities will include live music, grab-and-go food and raffles throughout the event for enrolled students.
Black Laney Love is a collective of Laney College of staff, faculty, administrators and community organizations with laser focus on supporting the academic success, socioemotional growth and holistic well-being of Black students at Laney College.
Student and community members will receive pertinent information about campus and community resources, student services and programs including the Chromebook loan program, mental health resources, job search, financial literacy information and so much more.
