Dean Crispen was named the new San Francisco Fire Chief by Mayor Daniel Lurie at a ceremony Jan. 10 at City Hall.
Crispen is a veteran in the department with more than three decades of experience. He brings expertise and dedication to the office.
Chief Crispen will oversee the 10 battalions of firefighters across the city and will also coordinate the department’s emergency preparedness and public safety initiatives.
This transition was overshadowed by the devastating fires in Southern California. Lurie sent 30 San Francisco firefighters and resources to support emergency response efforts in response to their request.
Lurie expressed his solidarity with those struggling and the city committed to continue to provide support as needed.
“My No. 1 goal as chief of the department is to safeguard the health and safety of all members of the San Francisco Fire Department and all San Franciscans,” said Crispen.
