‘International Chess Day’ Makes Its Move at Richmond Public Library
Chess players and their families can try their hand at gaining an advantage at a celebration of “International Chess Day” on Saturday, July 20 from 1-4 p.m. at the main Richmond Public Library’s Community Room. In an event that’s hosted by the library and West Coast Chess Alliance (WCCA), local enthusiasts can come out to enjoy a competitive afternoon of chess. Opportunities to win some chess swag and enter a raffle for door prizes will also be available for event participants.

Gov. Newsom Signs Law Shielding Immigration Aid Workers From Doxing Threats
“AB 2624 is fundamentally about freedom — the freedom from fear that lets our immigrant service providers do their jobs, and the freedom of the press to do their jobs without ever being conflated with the doxing this bill actually targets,” Bonta stated. “Those two freedoms were never in tension. Right now, our immigrant service providers are living in fear because of extremists looking to demonize the work that they do and the populations they serve.”
