SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) — A man arrested after throwing a banana peel that hit comedian Dave Chappelle in the leg during a performance in Santa Fe says he threw one at another black man two nights later.

Christian Englander told the Santa Fe New Mexican on Thursday (http://goo.gl/33FaiC) he threw another banana peel outside a Santa Fe bar because the “irony of this situation is too much to pass up.”

Jay Wills, the latest target of a banana peel, says Englander threw a peel at him during a scuffle. That tossing was not reported to police.

Englander, who is white, was arrested Monday night on suspicion of battery and disorderly conduct after tossing a banana peel at Chappelle, who is black.

Englander, 30, denies that either tossing was racially motivated but was meant as a joke.
