San Leandro Appoints Elizabeth Warmerdam Over 80 Applicants as Assistant City Manager

After an extensive recruit­ment process that yielded over 80 applicants, City Manager Jeff Kay announced that Eliza­beth D. Warmerdam has been appointed to serve as San Lean­dro’s next Assistant City Man­ager. “Throughout her career in public service, Liz has dem­onstrated the skills, experience and character required to excel in this critical leadership posi­tion,” said Kay. “I’m excited to work with her and confident that she will be a great addition to our team.”

Ms. Warmerdam began her professional career as an offi­cer in the Unites States Army, serving tours of duty in Ger­many and Korea. She has mas­ter’s degrees in City Planning and Public Administration from University of North Caro­lina at Chapel Hill. For the past 20 years, she has worked in a variety of positions in cities throughout Alameda and Con­tra Costa Counties in the areas of Finance and Redevelop­ment. Warmerdam previously served as Assistant City Man­ager in the City of Hercules and, most recently, in the City of Alameda.

Warmerdam is delighted to be joining the City of San Le­andro. “San Leandro is a dy­namic and diverse community with exciting opportunities on the horizon. I am looking for­ward to working with the City Council, community and pro­fessional staff to accomplish the community’s priorities,” said Warmerdam.

“I have been honored to work in the City of Alameda for the past six years and will miss working with such ex­ceptional staff and for such an engaged and devoted commu­nity,” Warmerdam continued. “I wish the new Council the best of luck and success into the future.”

Ms. Warmerdam will begin work in San Leandro on Febru­ary 1, 2019.
