Andrew Hatch

Andrew Frank Hatch, who is 113 years old, was born Oct. 7, 1898, the same year as the Spanish American War and the world’s first fatality from an automobile accident on a public highway. A native of a small town in Louisiana near the Texas border, he moved to Oakland in 1928. According to Hatch’s daughter Delane, her father was a good friend of Esther Mabry, the “Grand Lady of 7th Street” and the owner of Esther’s Orbit Room in Oakland.
